Obituary of Curtis Rozell Hall

Middleburg, Florida – February 28, 2023 – U.S. Navy Veteran
Curtis Rozell Hall was born to the Late Thomas LeAnder Hall and Dorothy Simmons-Hall on December 31, 1970 in Rochester, New York.
Curtis accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Memorial AME Zion church in Rochester, NY. He developed a love for singing which led him to sing in the children's choir, many singing competitions, and on to represent his church at a district conference.
He attended catholic school until high school, where he received his diploma from East High School. He continued his education at Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi prior to transferring to Monroe Community College, for one year. In May of 1992, Curtis joined the United States Navy receiving numerous accolades such as the Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Presidential Unit Citation. In the Navy, he proudly served in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Curtis also served as a U.S. Navy Systems Specialist at US Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. After 20 years of dedication to the United States Navy, his character was deemed Honorable upon his retirement in 2012.
After retirement, Curtis relocated to Jacksonville, FL. While in Jacksonville, he earned an Associates Degree from Columbia College. In 2019, he joined Kappa Lambda Chi, a Military Fraternity, and was an active member until his demise.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Shauna Wash and Zaylah Hall, both of Jacksonville, FL; his mother, Dorothy Simmons-Hall; his brother, Dorian L. Hall, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, church family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas L. Hall; his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Curtis transitioned peacefully on February 28,2023 at St. Vincent's Hospital, in Middleburg, FL.
Friends may call Friday, March 17, 5:00-8:00 PM at The Latimer Chapel, 983 South Plymouth Avenue, Rochester, NY. Second Visitation Saturday, March 18, 10:00 - 11:30 AM at Memorial AME Zion Church, 549 Clarissa Street, Rochester, NY. Funeral Service will immediately follow with Rev. James Simmons Officiating. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
