ROCHESTER, NY – July 25, 2024
A "PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICE" AND BURIAL WILL BE HELD AT RICHARD'S REQUEST
Richard was born in Coleman, Georgia where he learned the trade of auto mechanic of which he loved. He then moved to Rochester, NY as a teenager.
His first job in Rochester was with Goodyear Tire Co. as an auto mechanic. He worked for Eastway Lincoln & Mercury located in Webster, NY. Richard was the Owner of Richard's Auto Repair on Ward & Clinton Avenues, the Gulf Station across from Kodak on St. Paul Street, the Chevron Service Station on Lake Avenue and his last business was Richard's Auto Sales and Service on Genesee Street. In between he had his own Snowplowing and Towing businesses. He retired in 1996.
Richard saved the Life of a New York State Trooper during his towing of tractor trailers on the NYS Thruway.
Richard was a race car driver and was good at it. He raced stock cars that he built, drag raced his new Corvette for a short time and competed in demolition derby's and he then raced go-karts. Richard won the track championship at Canandaigua Speedway and he and his stock car were on display in Midtown Plaza. He was an avid bowler. He earned several trophies including Nascar trophies. He also was an avid fisherman, hunter and boater.
Richard has had a full and blessed life. He is survived by Family & Friends.
His Family wishes to thank you for your prayers, calls, and in anyway you shared your condolences and kindness during this time of loss.
