ROCHESTER, NY - May 13, 2024
Phyllis E. Cochran-Haygood of Rochester, NY passed away surrounded by her loved ones on May 13th, 2024.
Born on August 1st, 1957 in Forrest City Arkansas, she was the daughter of Dorothy B. (Stewart) Cochran and Fred Cochran.
She attended Franklin High School and moved to Rochester in the early 1970’s where she became a supervisor at Kodak. Phyllis met the love of her life, John Haygood on a baseball field.
Phyllis beamed with pride and joy when she would talk about their son, Ronnald Dwayne Haygood. The special bond between Phyllis and Wayne is what all mother and son’s strive to have.
In her free time, Phyllis could be found in the bowling alley with her husband, at Bingo with her friends, or being with her sisters. Phyllis would light up any room she walked into. Her heart of gold touched the lives of countless people near and far. She found great joy in lifting up those who were down, giving to those in need and sharing her beautiful soul with the world. Phyllis was a matriarch who valued family and faith above all else.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, siblings; Mattie Pearl Robinson, Dorothy Jean Lewin, Shirley Zokoff, Dolores Key, Freddie Cochran and Clifford Cochran.
Survived by her loving husband, John Haygood, their son, Ronnald Haygood, her siblings, Pearlie (Ephraim) Tuggles, Bessie (Ron) Lorenzo, Janet Cochran, Glenda (Haze) McClary, Charles (Deborah) Cochran, Arby Cochran, Anthony (Geneda) Cochran and Camille Cochran. As well as many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
Loved ones may join us for her wake from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Lawson Road Church of Christ and a service will follow from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. There will be a brief procession to the Falls Cemetery.
