My heart and thoughts goes out to the family. Jim (“Sargeant Banks here” he announce when he answered phone) love his family dearly and spoke with such pride and joy. I will miss the joy and love he exuded when reflecting on his greatest joy his family, as well as his music and as member of Tops In Blue with Air Force during his career and sharing stories of folks in entertainment he met along the way. Lenetta reflecting back, I knew you before you were born as your parents were so excited sharing the news with my family. Your mom was a comforting voice as I navigated motherhood as we shared phone conversations way before internet and e-mails became a thing and I cherish the memories. Your dad continued as he helped my mom and me when my dad passed with his profession in the industry. My mom was not above learning from younger folks and she enjoyed talks with your dad being just a phone call away. When I finally got to meet you when your dad took you to Florida to Disney, my family was stationed nearby, I was struck by your grace and poise at such a very young age. Your dad told me that was due to your mom’s guidance navigating your life to set you up for your future. Our thoughts are with you and your family as you move forward in navigating the course.

Jim Banks was a good neighbor as well as a kind gentleman to all of us on Brookline Avenue. He would often stop to chat awhile if out on his scooter in good weather; or give a friendly wave as he drove by . We enjoyed talking about his years as a drummer too , hence the ‘Mr Kicks ‘ plates . We will dearly miss him
