I was so saddened to hear of the passing of both Mrs. and Mr. Blount. I had the distinct honor of knowing them both for more than 25 years. It was because of Mrs. Blount that I was able to see many of my manuscripts published. She was the most patient and thoughtful person I’ve ever met. She made certain that each time I published with About…Time that I received copies of my work. Mrs. Blount was generous with her time and offered gentle guidance to me when I first came on as a freelance writer in 1998. We last spoke in the fall of 2022 and she was so delighted that COVID brought her family together and that the group still gathered via Zoom to connect. It was a long conversation, and we had a chance to do a lot of reflecting and even more laughing. She was a strong presence in my life, and I cannot imagine moving forward without having her to call upon just to catch up, plan and or just to have a nice deep belly laugh. Rest with God my friend and keep the light on for those of us who will be joining you soon.

I have such fond memories of spending time with Carolyne, often stopping by About...Time magazine offices in Bullshead Plaza where we chatted away as she worked feverishly to meet deadlines even as I was doing likewise to meet deadlines of Communicade newspaper. When we recently reconnected after my 40-year absence from Rochester, it was like we had never missed a beat! How I enjoyed our conversations! Her cheerful greetings as we spoke in person, by phone and ultimately via email will linger with me. She and her husband Jim contributed greatly to the Rochester community in so many ways. What a blessing to be recipients of their legacy of journalism to be cherished and referenced for generations to come. So glad they came our way. They will be missed.

I am truly sorry that I missed the viewing for Carolyn. I really wanted to visit her but was unable to get to her while she was at home. I will cherish the memories we had in Henrietta. We had a long time together while my late husband wrote for About Time magazine and all the efforts with Jim and Milton working for representation of Afro Americans in Henrietta. She and Jim will always be Cherished.

I was honored to have 2 of my articles published by the wonderful and beautiful Mrs. Carolyne Blount. She always wore a joyful smile and was so very gifted in her work. She sharpened my skills and made me a better writer.
God Bless Carolyne and Jim as they move into their new Heavenly Mansion with the Lord.
