Obituary of Todd Derrick Burden

ROCHESTER, NY – October 26, 2023
Todd Burden was born in Rochester, New York, on August 26, 1974, the youngest of two children born to Mamie and Walter Burden.
As a child, Todd was active at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Dwight E. Cook. He participated in the Youth Choir, the Youth Usher Board, Sunday School, and the Boy Scouts. He attended and eventually became a counselor for the Summer Fun Camp program.
Todd graduated from Gates-Chili High School in 1992 and earned a Bachelor's degree in English from the State University of New York at Albany in 1996. He went on to become a teacher in the Rochester City School District, where he was loved and respected by many students, staff, and friends.
On August 25, 2018, Todd married the love of his life, Georgia Jones Burden. He spent as much time as possible with her, his children, and grandchildren.
A huge sports fan, Todd officiated high school and college football, basketball, and lacrosse games for various organizations, including the Rochester Chapter of Certified Football Officials (RCCFO), International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO), Central Western Girls Basketball Officials (CWGBO), and Elite Officiating. He loved football, especially the Buffalo Bills, and also enjoyed gardening, fishing and going to WWE events.
Todd leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Georgia; two daughters, Ashley Burden, Aliyah Burden; two step-sons, Dusean Chambers, Julian Glemaud; two grandchildren, Rhylee Burden, Dae'Lynn Crumpler; parents, Mamie Burden, Walter Burden; sister, Stephanie (Chris) Corbitt; sisters in-law Annmarie (Kenneth) Mays, Janet (Terry) Brown, Denise Stewart; brothers in-law Patrick (Dian) Jones, Victor (Raquel) Jones, Richard (Mahogany) Stewart; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, close friend, Steven Stokes of Stockton, CA, and a host of relatives and friends.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 3 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at The Latimer Chapel, 983 S. Plymouth Ave., Rochester, NY and Saturday, November 4 from 10:00 AM - 12 Noon at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 141 Adams Street, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow. Interment Grove Place Cemetery, Chili, NY.
