Jewell Gladys King, better known as Momma King, was born September 26th, 1945, to the late Queen Ester (Jones) King and Robert King in Clayton, Alabama. The Family moved to Haines City, Florida in the 1950’s. Jewell Graduated from Oakland High School in the mid 60’s and moved to Rochester, NY soon after. Jewell worked at Xerox for 35 years until she retired. Jewell was funny, outspoken, but most of all she was loving and caring, and will be missed by many. Momma King was the Matriarch of her family and a Christian who loved the lord.
Preceded her in Death was her Mother, Queen Ester King; Father, Robert King; 2 Sisters, Daisy Barnes, Willie Anne Davis; 3 Brothers, Clifford L. King, Richard B. King and Levi Thomas; 2 Grandchildren, Max King and Ariel Hale; 2 Nephews, Jerry King and Timothy Davis; 1 Niece, Natasha King; 2 Great Nephews, Michael Washington and Laverne Douglass Jr.; 1 Great Niece, Brittni Iverson; 1 Aunt, Lizzie Mitchell, along with 2 Cousins, Charlie Streeter and Auldrey Thomas.
Jewell leaves to cherish; 3 Sons, Reginald King, Darrell King (Edith), and Boswell King, all of Rochester, NY. She also leaves to mourn; 22 Grandchildren, Regina, Sachelle, Darius, Reginald Jr, Danielle, Zechariah, Raeven, Kami, Dashay, Darrell Jr, Shadera, Darnell, Andre, Javon, Amonie, Jalysa, Clemisha, Eli’sha, Kiaro, and Zyaire; 30 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren, all of Rochester, NY. 5 Brothers, Robert M King (Johnnie Mae), Robert Thomas of Haines City, Florida, Lt. Colonel William L. King (Jane) of St. Louis, Missouri, Minister Bobby King (Joanne) of Turkey, North Carolina and Larry King of Rochester, NY; 3 Sisters, Patricia Hall (Jerry), Doretha King, of Rochester, NY, and Regina King of Winterhaven, Florida. Her God Daughter, Retha Rogers (Niece) and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives. She leaves to mourn and a special friend, Ms. Janet. Momma King will also leave to mourn close family friends, Julia Triplett and Lynette Smith along with several step grandchildren and many other friends.
Friends may call Thursday, August 3 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at New Life Fellowship, 330 Wellington Avenue, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate her Life will immediately follow. Interment Grove Place Cemetery, Chili, NY.
