Obituary of Fred Swan III
Please share a memory of Fred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ROCHESTER, NY – November 29, 2022
Fred Swan III was born March 14, 1956 in Rochester, New York to the late Fred Swan Jr. and Ernestine Hymes Swan.
Fred was affectionately known as "Scooter" to everyone. Scooter attended Rochester City Schools and later join the Job Corps where he completed his education specializing in Building Maintenance. After leaving the Job Corps, Scooter began an apprenticeship with The Glass Man, Inc. Under the guidance of the owner Mark McGraff, he became one of their most skilled installers. Scooter worked with The Glassman Company for over 45 years and became not only an excellent co-worker but a family friend. Even in retirement, family and friends still called him whenever they needed him to replace or repair windows. Scooter was always there for his family and friends. If you needed something put together, something taken down, Scooter was the one to call.
Scooter loved watching football with a pot on the stove. At many family functions you could always find him on the grill. Scooter knew someone everywhere he went. He also enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes and cooking like his father.
Seemingly too soon, but assuredly in God's hands, Scooter departed this life on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. He is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter, Leah; father Fred (Swannie); brothers Ernest and Anthony (Haggi) and sisters Jacqueline and Phyllis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ernestine; sisters, Deborah and Gustavia (Florida); brothers Michael, Timothy, Ronnie and Toby (both of Florida), Fred and Shane and host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Friends may call Friday, December 9 from 10 AM-12 Noon at New Progressive Cathedral Church Of God In Christ, 384 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY. Funeral Service will follow. Interment Falls Cemetery, Greece, NY.
