When I met Bertha for the first (and only) time in 2020, it was hard for me to believe that she was in her 80's. She had such a youthful spirit and a very youthful sense of style (see photo below). I wish I had known her and her son Perry Lang when I lived in Rochester, but I didn't meet Perry until we both had moved to California. We have now been close friends for over 30 years. Even though I didn't know Bertha well, I think we were kindred spirits. And when I saw her obituary with all of her last names, I knew she definitely was a kindred spirit because like my dearly beloved sister, who is now deceased, she had been married many times. To me that means she knew how to enjoy life and she followed her own path, just as my sister did. I know that Bertha's family and close friends have many fond memories of her. I have only the memory of that one day in February of 2020 when we spent time together, but Bertha made a lasting impression.
My sincere condolences to Bertha's son, Perry Lang, his family and many friends. Perry, in memory of your mother, I have ordered a tree to be planted. I don't know where or when it will be planted, but when they tell me the details, I will let you know.
